17th Birthday
|
Today,4/25 is my 17th birthday. Time goes by so fast.
I was up late last night talking to my friend Jesus(Juan) Juarez and his friend Fernando. We had an interesting conversation, one very smart man, hes had a lot of experiences. He was born in Mexico, and joined the Mexican army when he was 16. He told me how he climbed the volcano outside Mexico City, and some other interesting stuff like that. Stayed in the Mexican army for 15 years (became a lieutenant). Then at some point he came to America and began working here, he works for a neighbor of mine, just a few years ago he became an American citizen. We were talking about a possible draft in the States, and he told me how he risk his life for America any day, to fight for everything we have in this country. He was telling me how he would back any one in power in the country (Bush). A very intriguing conversation
(While writing this update, Jesus just called singing Feliz Navidad, hahah)
He gave me a lot of other tips about life and such, some amazing, priceless conversations.
Today has been nice. I woke up around 12 to some birthday calls, and went out to breakfast (lunch) with my friend Morgan. Of course, I got my favorite kind of food, none other than Indian. Ahh.....sooo goooood. And I'm probably having some more Asian food for dinner tonight. Spent a lot of time playing guitar and relaxing.
I have a busy 3 weeks a head of me, going to be a ride.
Until Next time, Peace - Trevor

Spring Break of College Visits and Randomness
|
So Friday morning I wake up at 12:30 pm, and realized I wanted to go visit Union College near Albany, NY. I had been talking to a friend at Union about visiting but I hadn't really made it official unitil a few hours before I left. It's definetly a sparatic way to live. So I went to the Amtrak station in Rochester NY to take a train to Schnectady NY. I bought the tickets at the staion, 45 minutes before the train was sceduled to leave. ( crazy delays). The plan was to stay until Sunday, and be picked up there on my moms way to Boston to visit more schools.
I always enjoy train rides and meeting various random people. Some very interesting conversations take place about the the most completley random things. Honestly, It is such a small world. I was wearing a Geneseo shirt ( NY state college that my brother attends) and this girl asked me if I had a brother at Geneseo who is a bio major. She didn't know his name, but I guess I look a lot like him. I got talking to her, and I knew some kids down at Geneseo that she knew as well.
Then I was talking to some other random college girl who goes to Syracuse University (there was a group of college age kids sitting together and chatting) and she was from Colony NY, where my cousins lives. Turns out she knew who my cousin was, since he's really tall, haha. Such a small world.
So finally I got to Union College and I stayed there for two nights. It is a beautiful college and I am very interested in attending. The campus is well organized and thought out. It has the small school atmosphere, just like i'm looking for, with less thatn 3,000 undergrad. It also has a 24 hour photography facility that I would be interested in, and I guess they have a good Political Science major, the current area that I am thinking about. Union is very close to Albany, the State Capital, so it would be a good place to go if politics is my thing. The housing at Union also seemed very appealing. ( Union also has a laundry service!!!!). I didn't think I would see anyone I know there other than the guy I was staying with, but knowing me, I obviously would run into someone else I know. I saw a girl who I knew from Reality Check, that I have met a few times before. I couldn't remember her name, but when I went to talk to her, thankfully she had it right on her sweatshirt, and she remembered who I was.
Right now I am in Boston, and I just got done visiting Boston College and Northeastern University. Both are larger schools, fairly nice, but I am not really interested in either. Tomorrow I am going to visit Tufts and Emerson. And on the way home wednesday, I hope to visit Hamilton and Colgate.
Wow, I really had a lot to say, Until Next Time, Be home wednesday
Peace, Trevor Kellogg

First Trip to NYC
|
Wow, what a week. Had my first trip to NYC on tueday. Not only my first trip, but my first Airplane flight. Quite an experience. I went down to NYC since I was invited to go on the Early Show by some friends in NYC for Kick Butts Day. We were able to get on the show, but unfortunetly we didn't get a chance to speak. But, none the less, I got to represent, and it was an incredible trip. I visited Kelly Beers at Columbia University, such a beautiful college. Also visited NYU, wasn't to appealing from the outside. Had some great Thai food as well. Thanks to my cousin Tom for letting me stay with him, highly appreciated. It definetly felt like I spent a week there in only 24 hours, quite a city. Most definetly going back.
